On this cold but dry day, 13 of us gathered in Thurlby Wood to help Colin with his woodland management. Colin had been investigating some old plans of this ancient wood and had identified an old ride that he was keen to reestablish. So we made our way to an area in the northwest of the wood that we hadn't visited before and set about cutting and burning the smaller coppice that Colin had chainsawed the day before. Larger branches and trunks were stacked in habitat piles after being cut to a suitable size. |
