A return to Hartsholme Country Park to continue the hedgelaying we have been doing here over 2 previous tasks. Ten of us turned up for what was a pleasant, dry winter's day. About half of us had some experience of hedgelaying and we paired up with those with little or no experience to set about preparing the hedge. By the first break, we had made a good start at clearing out the previously layed or unlayable material and several had already started using billhooks to prepare promising pleachers.
After lunch, we were ready to start laying the hedge and most of us came together to work as a team, laying the roughly 10 metres of hedge. Everything came together nicely and by about 3pm we had a good stretch of layed hedge with stakes at regular intervals. There were quite a few larger trees left in place along the hedge, but overall, the completed section looked great and was something to be proud of.
