The Boultham Park Restoration Team is trying to encourage more public involvement in the conservation and management of this 50-acre Grade II listed historic park that has woodland and more formal areas. LCG was approached a while back by project assistant Neville; Jonathan had arranged for us to go along and help - possibly a first visit to the park for LCG, or at least the first for a long time.
The task Neville had lined up for us on the day was to tidy up two bridges and a length of path by removing encroaching soil and vegetation. It was hard work but we set to with a will as always, wielding spades, shovels, brushes and wheelbarrows. You could certainly tell the difference.
The park was busy with local people, which was good to see, and we received several expressions of thanks.
Neville has kindly written a detailed report of our workday on the park project's website www.boulthampark.co.uk/conservation-group-give-us-a-boost. Have a look!
