We met in the muddy area behind the farm in a light drizzle and found the gate to the wood had a new lock so we had to carry all the gear to the worksite via the swamp. But we soon got working with an amazing 21 volunteers. Welcome to Sarah, a new volunteer; lovely to meet you and we hope to see you again.

Simon and Jonathan worked hard to get the fire going despite the damp conditions and managed to get it roaring before the brew break. The cake I'd made had broken a bit getting it out of the trays so I'd stuck it together with my home made strawberry jam and a mixed fruit jam; it was soon gone so I guess it wasn't that bad.
I had to coax the group back to work: heaps of coppiced material was soon being added to the fire. Despite the very boggy ground the work area was soon opening up. |
