Eight volunteers worked in unison to bring in the cut grass from the meadow at Butterfly Conservation reserve Snakeholme Pit on Sunday 17 September.
The former clay pit is now a 2-acre reserve consisting of meadow areas, pond, embankment and hedgerows, and it supports a range of wildlife including butterflies, dragonflies, shrews and water voles. Eagle-eyed volunteers spotted amphibians and grasshoppers in amongst the grass whilst we worked.
A pleasant (and surprisingly warm) day!
